Non-directional Blood Tutorial @ 24 fps

TIPS!!

1] When animating the "spread" its best when starting out just to animate one line of the spread or blood at a time so you don't loose track of the spurts force/ speed and drop. It will also ad diversity to your blood spurt [ everything wont just all fall down at once, that just looks horrible. ]

2] Keep onion skin low, only show about 2 frames prior so you don't get to lost as you go through frames as to which blood is from which section.

For this tutorial we will be doing a non-directional blood spurt. This means that the blood is going in all directions rather than just to the left or right as if from a bullet.

Ok starting off with our figure one and figure 2 above [ of course these are enlarged for your viewing pleasure ] we notice that it kind of starts out just like a blob, anything relative to something like this will do. Very basic. This is just the begining of the hit.

I call this the "spread" of the blood spurt. This is where your blood gets its real power and force from. Now these white lines that you see in the examples are just shading that i went back and added after i was done with the blood to give it a nice and shiny appeal. Its really not neccessary for this tutorial.

Now advance to frame 6 on the .swf. We start to observe that the spread is getting wider and this is where we start to get our bubbly shape.

On this figure we've advanced to frame 11. This is where you start to see that our lines have now turned into bubbles that break apart and get smaller as they rise and fall. I tend to animate each or at the tops only 3 of these bubbles at a time so I don't get lost as to if they are rising or falling and how quickly they are doing both of those things. As they reach their climax they gradually slow down.

This is frame 20. Now the blood bubbles are dropping off at different times. This gives it more diversity and the blood bubbles that get closer to the ground you go and just make dissapear. [ make sure you don't do this all at once or it looks tacky ]

To finish it up just follow through in dropping your blood bubbles to the ground untill they dissapear as shown in the .swf example.
