If you're quite new to animation itself, you might not comprehend some terms being used.

•What exactly is Weightless?

With that in mind, let's mesh that together with what you (hopefully) know. Let's bring in

Papa Ball, Mini Ball, and Mr. Stick
(Keep in mind, this is my style of animating so what ever style you animate with, results may vary between styles)

•Concepts of Weight
There is actually no Good or Bad examples of weightless because weightless animation can look different towards your point of view of "Weightless" and your style. These are just some examples of weightless.

Constant Weightless means that you immediate take off with the same speed and stick with it the whole time until something is animated to stop it, slow it down, or speed it up. It's basically upon the animator's choice to decide what's happening. This enables animators to be more flexible with the animation overall.


Curved Weightless means that you take off with your initial speed then slow it down. Technically it isn't weightless but it gets the point across pretty well. It also makes the animation look better but it doesn't give that much of a flexibility towards that animator's choice.
